George Bulman joins The Samara Trust as CEO

The Samara Trust is delighted to welcome Mr George Bulman to The Samara Trust as interim CEO from the 1st March 2021. Mr Bulman is an education specialist with over twenty years’ experience in education advisory work in both mainstream and specialised schools.

Most recently, Mr Bulman provided educational consultancy for schools, trusts and new school proposer groups, including as a specialist for New Schools Network, working alongside over 25 trusts in their development and preparation for inspection.

As an educational professional with significant experience, Mr Bulman is included on the Department for Education’s Register of External Expertise, undertaking quality and compliance inspection/advisory visits, reporting to the DfE and identifying targets for improvement. Career highlights for Mr Bulman include the founding leadership and development of New Islington Free School in Manchester, a regeneration zone of East Manchester. Under Mr Bulman’s leadership, this new school achieved an ‘Outstanding’ grade on its very first OFSTED inspection.

This record of excellence was reflected in Mr Bulman’s position as headteacher of Pownall Green Primary School in Stockport, a 420 place OFSTED Outstanding school. Within this role Mr Bulman was also able to offer guidance for other schools, at the request of the local authority. As headteacher of Brookside Primary School in Stockport, a specialised resourced school, Mr Bulman led the school from proposed closure to a full school roll. With leadership and teaching experience in schools in Manchester, Stockport and London, SEND provision management, and an early career devoted to carework, Mr Bulman brings a wealth of knowledge to his appointment as interim CEO of The Samara Trust.
